What I Read this Summer!

This summer, I didn't read as much as I usually do over the summer so I'm kind of mad at myself for that now. But here's the couple books I managed to read:

When the summer first started, I was already at the end of the 4th Harry Potter book, (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling) so I continued on with the series. I read almost the entire 5th book (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) before I decided to stop. I LOVED the first book, and each book after that just seemed to go down hill. Finally, it just started to seem too predictable and boring, which isn't what I want in a book.

After that I made a trip to the library to try and find some more interesting books. I read The Summer I Turned Pretty  by Jenny Han. Definitely one of my favorites. I think I liked it because I could relate to it well and it had a lot of twists, which really kept me hooked. I finished it in less than a day. Great book! But I wouldn't recomend it for a boy...

Another good book I read was Millicent Min, Girl Genius by Lisa Yee. This book is about a girl who really excels in school and goes to college at age 11! She doesn't really have any friends and she's just trying to fit in. Also really good and I flew through it as well.

Sweet Love by Sarah Strohmeyer was good too. I picked it up because I was attracted to the giant cupcake on the front :) and because the book was mainly about a woman who starts taking baking classes and begins to enjoy it and I LOVE to bake! There was a lot of romance involved too (which you could probably guess from the title) so definitely don't read it if your not into that kind of stuff. Yeah, I know, I read a lot of girly books.

A couple days ago, I finished reading The Clique by Lisi Harrison, the first of a series of five. I wouldn't say it was the best book ever, but it was decent. Not sure if I'm going to finish the series yet.

So those are the books I read this summer, but I think I might have forgotten some. I also read the newspaper practically every day, I'm really into that. And still waiting to get my hands on a copy of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I know the 4th one just came out and from what I've heard, they look really good. Can't wait!!

  1. You really didn't like the Harry Potter series? Wow. Personally, I am absolutly in love with those books, I think I've read the whole series at least 3 times! I've heard the 4th Hunger Games book was really good! My friends sister bought it at the first day it came out and finished it that day too!

  2. Well the first four books were awesome! But the 5th book was kind of boring and way too predictable. I don't know, maybe someday I'll try reading it again. Yeah, my friend got it as soon as it came out too, she's obsessed with those books! Have you read them?

  3. I don't know why you didn't like the fifth Harry Potter book. I think you are the first person that I've met that didn't like the Harry Potter series. Well, not the entire Harry Potter series. Just try finishing it (if you haven't) and then go on to the last two. I need someone to send Harry Potter flair to :).
Definitly read the Hunger Games...when you get there, you can borrow my copy of the last book...and just so you know, there's only three- The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. Be prepared for disturbing images though. IT IS NOT FOR THE WEAK OF HEART!!

  6. Hey, I read Millicent Min, Girl Genius! It was in my bookshelf for some reason. Did you read in the back that she wrote (or was writing at the time) a book from Stanford's POV? I wonder if it ever was published...
